Protest in Louth against closure of d Hotel passes off peacefully
A few hundred people braved the rain on Saturday to attend a protest rally against the d Hotel’s housing of 500 asylum seekers from March 5th.
The protest was organised by the Irish Freedom Party and their local election candidates, along with party president Hermann Kelly, addressed the crowds for over two hours.
There had been fears of public order offences or violence, following other high profile protests elsewhere in recent weeks, with the result that there was a heavy Garda presence, but the rally passed off peacefully.
